One of my favorite San Francisco neighborhoods these days (and sure to be a subject of future posts) is the Sunset. When we first moved here and were apartment hunting, Kal and I constantly heard two things about the Sunset:
1. You'll never see the sun, and,
2. It's soooooooooo far away.
While it's a solid trek from our place on the south side of the city in Glen Park, and yes, it's a favorite stomping ground for Karl the Fog come summertime, the Sunset is still (in my opinion) a perfect relaxed oceanside destination, with a decidedly beach town feel.
There's no shortage of unique color combinations on the houses in SF, and the quirky paint jobs in the Sunset are no exception.
We stopped on our way back from the beach to snap a few photos in front of this delightfully bright and jarring apartment building. (Side note: I've added yet another denim shirt to my ever growing collection and it's becoming a bit of a problem). And yes, I wore shorts in the Sunset (in January!) and survived.
The fog rolled in on the last part of our walk (of COURSE it did) but not before we enjoyed a gloriously warm day in the Sunset. If you're looking for an excuse to visit (besides this bright ass house, a ton of delicious + beautiful restaurant spots, and a great boutique), Ocean Beach stretches for days on the other side of the dunes shown below - on the west edge of the neighborhood.
